Car detailing tips from a detailer who actually does the work
Car detailing tips with no filler and no upselling. Straight answers to the things NW London drivers ask me on driveways every week — what things cost, what is worth doing, and what detailing genuinely cannot fix.
How often should you actually detail your car?
The honest answer depends on where you park, not what the internet says. A simple way to work out your own schedule.
What car detailing really costs in NW London
Real local prices, why a £15 hand wash and a £240 detail are not the same job, and how to tell what you are actually paying for.
Ceramic coating vs wax vs sealant
Three products, three very different jobs. Which one your car needs, and when paying more is genuinely wasted money.
What you will find in these car detailing tips
Three things come up on driveways more than anything else: what a job should cost, how often a car actually needs doing, and whether the expensive protection is worth paying for. Those are the three guides above, and they are the three I get asked about every single week.
Each one is written the way I would answer you standing next to your car. Real prices rather than “contact us for a quote”. Real timeframes rather than a number pulled out of the air. And a clear answer about when the cheaper option is the right one, because that is usually the part nobody tells you.
Who is writing this
I am Eman. I run PureShine out of Wembley HA0 and I am the one who turns up — there is no team, no rota and no call centre. Everything in these car detailing tips comes from doing the work on real cars in NW London, not from reading other people’s blogs.
That matters more than it sounds. A lot of detailing advice online is written by people who have never had to explain to a customer why the etch mark on their bonnet will not wash off, or why their car looked worse after a cheap valet. I have had both of those conversations more times than I would like.
How to get the most out of them
Start with whichever question is actually bothering you. They are written to be read on their own, not in order, and each one links to the service page it relates to if you decide you want the job doing.
If you are new to all this, the cost guide is the best starting point — understanding why a £15 hand wash and a £240 detail are different jobs makes everything else make sense. If your car is already looked after and you just want to keep it that way, start with how often to detail it. If you are about to spend real money on protection, read the ceramic coating one before you commit to anything.
None of the car detailing tips here need you to buy anything from me. Plenty of what is in them you can do yourself with a hose and the right technique, and the free safe wash guide covers exactly that.
Why I write these car detailing tips
Most car detailing tips online are written to sell you something. Mine are written from the driveway — the same questions come up over and over, and it is easier to answer them properly once than badly forty times.
If a job is not worth doing on your car, these articles will say so. I would rather you booked the right thing once than the wrong thing twice, and I would rather tell you here than take your money and have you find out afterwards.
Got a question nobody has answered properly? Send it to me and I will write it up. Most of these car detailing tips started as a question somebody asked me while I was working on their car.
